Out and about  (Sunday) enjoying the sights and sounds of Lincoln Road when the mood for sushi hit us.  First thought- the Doraku Happy Hour. Apparently, we weren’t the only people in the mood for Ahi Poke and $4  Lychee Martinis…the place was packed. Inside, outside, the bar–standing room only with the best guess from the hostess of about an hour wait. Lesson learned: Doraku serves up great “Happy Hour” sushi and drinks, so get there early! Dinner Happy Hour everyday from 5pm to 7pm.

Beat the clock at  Spris. Available every day from 5:30pm- 7:oopm The price you pay for your pizza depends on the time you place your order. For example, order at 5:30 p.m. and you pay $5.30. Order at 6:45 p.m. and you pay $6.45 and so on. Last orders must be placed by 7 p.m.

If you’re gonna try a Cuban coffee you might as well grab it from a place that does it well. David’s Cafe has been around for a very long time and there’s always caffeine-seeking patrons at their cafecito counter on Lincoln Road. Here is a quick guide to the four traditional servings:

Cafecito or Café Cubano: served in a small espresso cup – very similar to an Italian espresso (very strong and  super sweet).

Colada – normally served from a large Styrofoam cup and comes with a stack of 4 or 5 thimble size plastic cups.  Colada is basically a Large Cafe Cubano and is meant to be shared (now make some friends).

Cortadito -  This is a Cafecito with milk…sorta like a cappucino.

Cafe con Leche – basically a Cafe au Lait or “Latin latte” – hot, steamed milk with a shot of Cuban coffee.

H&M is opening on famous Lincoln Road Mall. The European retail store Hennes & Mauritz will be opening in the Lincoln Theatre building in the fall of 2012. Ok, it’s Sunday and your weekend is almost over. You need to replenish your system with much needed vitamins and nutrients for the long week ahead. So grab a coffee and get yourself over to The Lincoln Road Farmers’ Market.  The green market  features fruits, vegetables, fresh cut flowers, plants and other items, such as bread, honey, jams and jellies. There is also an Organic Market in front of the Lincoln Theatre at Lincoln Road and Pennsylvania Avenue.

The market  takes place every Sunday on Lincoln Road between Washington Avenue and Meridian Avenue from 9 am to 6:30 pm, year round.

The Antique and Collectible Market on famous Lincoln Road Mall will be open on Feb.19,2012. Check out over 100 vendors displaying antiques, jewelry, china, vintage clothing, furniture, and more. Located between the 800 and 1000 blocks of Lincoln Road and Drexel Ave. The market is open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m, so come early and shop for those hard to find collectibles.
